Banca Prossima, a bank of Intesa Sanpaolo bank group implementing financed projects in the area of Not-for-Profit Organizations, has launched an important project for the Third Sector. The project is based on new tools of financing with a social purpose which allow people to feel really involved in the realization of the project they have chosen.

This is the spirit which is leading www.terzovalore.com, the web portal which allows all internet users to give their money or to loan it to NPOs directly and without intermediaries.

Compared to other portals with the same aim, Terzo Valore, whose name is strictly related to Third Sector, is highly innovative because it is adding to donation the possibility to give money at an interest rate agreed with the charity proposing the initiative. This mechanism transforms donors into “social bankers” as quoted by the ad of Banca Prossima which launched the project.

Infogroup has been coordinating the whole development of the project Terzo Valore and it has now an active role in the operational phase of the web portal as supplier of facility and application management and help desk services.     

Terzo Valore portal: how it works

Everybody, a private individual or a legal person (called Supporters) can access the Platform and contribute to the realization of social projects thanks to the following options:

• Donation: classical way of donating;
• Good Donation: a Supporter donates to the first Not for Profit Organization of a list of charities forming a consortium of charitable institutions which planned to work together. Afterwards, at a fixed time, the first NPO in the list morally engages to give the amount received to the second charity in the list, and so on. The last charity shall donate the amount to the first NPO in the list so that the strength of donations is renewed in a virtuous circle.  
• Good loan: for the first time it shall be possible to support charitable projects obtaining both a social return and the repayment of the money lent plus interests.

This new way of contributing to charitable institutions shall allow people to be more involved in social projects in order to give all players involved a sense of responsibility. Supporters are:

• Users: shall not donate their money occasionally to be in peace with themselves, instead they shall be pushed to follow up the projects they are financing.
• Charitable Institutions: shall be encouraged to report at their best about the status of projects and the use of financing because they are monitored by their supporters.
• Banks: shall be under observation both by charitable institutions and users.
